The HUB
The HUB is a forum for leaders of grassroots groups and progressive organizations across the state. Moderated by Jennifer Jones and Kay Watson, The HUB was created in spring 2017 and now boasts more than 100 members representing more than 55 groups in all 16 counties. The groups vary in size and scope, but they all share a commitment to civic engagement, civil discourse, and an interest in issues such as health care, education, the environment, social justice, civil rights, and other areas that affect the lives of all Mainers. Hubsters network with fellow leaders; share ideas, events and calls to action; and brainstorm about solutions to the challenges we all face as leaders. We communicate regularly via a closed Facebook group and held the first of many statewide summits in October. Suit Up Maine is an independent, all-volunteer grassroots progressive group that seeks to build a more informed and engaged electorate in Maine. Founded in 2016, Suit Up Maine is run by and for Mainers, and is not engaged in fundraising of any kind. Representing thousands of constituents across Maine’s 16 counties, Suit Up Maine raises awareness of and advocates for policies and legislation that promote equity and equality in civil rights, social justice, health care, the environment, education, the economy, and other areas that affect the lives of all people. Suit Up Maine is beholden to issues and action, not parties or politicians.
